Emergency quick reference
Emergency: 911 · 112 · 999 · 000
Adult CPR
- • Check scene is safe · tap & shout
- • Not breathing normally? Call 911/112/999 on speaker, get an AED
- • Heel of hand, center of chest
- • Push hard (5–6 cm / 2–2.4 in) & fast (100–120/min)
- • 30 compressions : 2 breaths (or hands-only)
- • Use the AED as soon as it arrives
AED
- • Turn it on — follow the voice prompts
- • Bare, dry chest · attach pads as pictured
- • Stand clear during analysis & shock
- • Resume CPR immediately after
Choking (adult/child)
- • Coughing? Encourage coughing
- • Can't cough, speak or breathe: 5 back blows
- • Then 5 abdominal thrusts · repeat
- • Baby: 5 back blows + 5 chest thrusts
- • Unresponsive → call & start CPR
Severe bleeding
- • Call for help · gloves if available
- • Press hard with both hands
- • Limb bleeding not stopping: tourniquet 5–7 cm above wound
- • Note the time · don't remove
Stroke: BE FAST
- • Balance · Eyes · Face drooping
- • Arm weakness · Speech difficulty
- • Time: call now, note when it started
Unresponsive, breathing
- • Recovery position on their side
- • Tilt head to keep airway open
- • Monitor breathing — CPR if it stops
